Beacon Valley Housekeeping is an owner-led cleaning company built by Sarah in the upper Swansea Valley: a small, settled team looking after holiday lets, businesses and homes with the care you would want for your own.
The story
Built to be the company Sarah would trust with her own keys
Sarah grew up just over the border in Herefordshire, and spent most of her free time on this side of it — walking the Beacons, staying in the valleys, holidaying in the sort of cottages she now looks after for a living. Eventually she did what plenty of visitors quietly promise themselves they will: she moved here for good, and made the upper Swansea Valley her home.
That road in shapes how she works. Sarah knows this valley both as the guest she once was and the local she now is, which means she can walk into a holiday let and see it exactly as the person arriving on a Friday evening will — because for years, that person was her. She chose this place, the same way most of her clients did.
Long before the company had a name, she was cleaning and caretaking for people she knew — a holiday cottage here, a family home there. What she kept seeing was the gap between what the national agencies promise and what actually turns up: a different face each visit, no photographs, no answer when something went wrong, and a standard that slipped the moment nobody was checking. Owners two hours away were paying good money to worry.
So she built the company she would want minding her own home. A small team rather than a rota of strangers. The same faces each visit. Insurance and DBS checks as a baseline, not a selling point. Photos after every clean, and straight talk when something breaks or a job runs over. It is not a complicated model. It is just rarer than it should be.
Why "Beacon Valley"?
Everything we look after sits between two landmarks: the Beacons above and the valley below. Bannau Brycheiniog rises at the head of our patch, and the valleys — the Tawe chief among them — run down from it through Ystradgynlais and Pontardawe towards the sea. Beacons were lit on these summits to carry a signal that could be trusted across the country. A standard you can see from a distance felt like the right thing to be named after.

Keys logged and coded, quiet work in occupied homes, and your property never discussed beyond the people who clean it.

Photos after every clean, damage reported the day we find it, and a named person who answers the phone.

We live here. We know the lanes above Craig-y-Nos and the terraces of Ystradgynlais, and we are twenty minutes away, not two hours.
The team
A small team, on purpose
Everyone who cleans for Beacon Valley Housekeeping is employed by us, DBS-checked, and trained by Sarah personally before they work in a client's property. We never subcontract — your keys stay with people we vouch for, or the job does not happen.
That choice has a cost: we sometimes say no to work we would love to take, because we would rather grow slowly than lower the standard. From holiday-let changeovers to recurring contracts, we take on new properties only when we can look after them properly — see where we currently reach on our coverage pages.
Our patch
From the head of the valley to the edge of the Beacons
We are based in Pen-y-cae, in the upper Tawe valley: most of the Swansea Valley sits within our standard travel radius, and the western Bannau Brycheiniog is on our doorstep. Travel costs are set out plainly on our pricing page.

What people ask before we start
Who will actually come to my home?
A member of our own small team, and usually the same person or pair every visit. You will know who to expect before the first clean, and if illness or holiday means a change we tell you in advance rather than sending a stranger unannounced.
Are you insured and vetted?
Yes. We carry full public liability insurance and every member of the team is DBS-checked before they set foot in a client's property. Certificates and cover details are available on request, and letting agents and property managers are welcome to ask for them.
Do you ever subcontract the work?
Never. Everyone who cleans for Beacon Valley Housekeeping is employed by us and trained by Sarah personally. If we cannot cover a job with our own people, we say so honestly rather than passing your keys to a firm you have never met.
